Tap a shade and the glass changes. The percentage is how much light the film lets through, so the lower the number, the darker the glass.

Minnesota allows 50% on a car’s front side windows. On SUVs, vans and pickups the rear side and back windows can be any shade. Minnesota tint law
Choosing a shade
How to choose your tint shade
Start with what Minnesota allows on each window, then choose the look you like. The heat control comes from the film, not the shade.

- 5%
- The darkest. On SUVs, vans and pickups, behind the driver only.
- 15%
- Very dark rear glass on SUVs, vans and pickups.
- 20%
- Dark rear glass on SUVs, vans and pickups.
- 35%
- A clear step darker — rear glass on SUVs, vans and pickups.
- 50%
- The darkest Minnesota allows on a car’s front side windows, and on every side and rear window of a car.
- 70%
- Nearly clear — Ceramic IR keeps the heat out without the darker look.
